Fr. Victor Farewell Celebration

A Special Celebration for Father Victor & Dobrodika Marusia

Sunday June 21, 2026 was a very special day for our Parish as we welcomed Father Victor to celebrate the Divine Liturgy.

This day was an opportunity to express our gratitude for the spiritual guidance, dedication, and friendship that Father Victor and Dobrodika Marusia have shared with our parish family.

Following the Divine Liturgy, everyone was invited to a special celebration dinner in our Parish Hall to honour Father Victor. The afternoon featured a delicious buffet dinner, followed by speeches and presentations recognizing his more than 59 years of devoted service to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Canada, including the past eight years at St. Michael’s.

Metropolitan Ilarion Liturgy

On June 14, 2026, the Sunday of All Saints of Rus’ Ukraine, His Eminence Metropolitan Ilarion celebrated the Divine Liturgy at St.Michael’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church, followed by a buffet lunch in his honor.

Hе was assisted by Protopresbyter Fr. Victor Lakusta and Protodeacon Fr. Anton Lakusta.

Father Victor Final Official Liturgy @ St. Michael’s

On Sunday May 31, Father Victor celebrated his final ‘official’ Liturgy at St. Michael’s prior to his retirement after 59 years of service to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and 6 years at St. Michael’s. A luncheon followed in our Parish Hall. A celebration dinner will be held June 21st featuring a delicious buffet dinner, followed by speeches and presentations recognizing his many years of faithful service.

Blessing of Easter Baskets

Saturday April 11, 2026

On Saturday, April 11, Father Victor blessed the Easter baskets in our Parish Hall. Approximately 175 people attended, bringing beautifully prepared baskets for this special tradition.

PASSIA 2026

Sunday evening, March 29, 2026

The PASSIA service was held at St. Michael’s and was followed by a luncheon. The lesson was read by Fr. Oleh Romanyna. In attendance with Fr. Victor Lakusta were: Fr. Vasyl Maskal, Fr. Dr. Timothy Chrapko, Fr. Yuriy Suchevan, who each read the lessons on the previous Sundays. Palm Sunday followed on April 5.

Epiphany Jan 2026

St. Michael’s celebrated the Feast of the Epiphany with our evening Divine Liturgy, followed by a delicious buffet of traditional Ukrainian foods. The Parish Hall was beautifully decorated for the occasion. Introduced by Dorothy, our Parish President, Father Victor conducted the traditional Epiphany blessing for our many guests. Following the meal, everyone joined together for a joyful sing-along of Christmas carols.

On Sunday, Dec 7th, our Parish celebrated St. Nicholas, the Patron Saint. Following the Service, a buffet lunch was served. Once St. Nicholas arrived, to the delight of everyone, our Church President Dorothy invited the children of all ages on stage to meet St. Nicholas and to be presented with a gift. This is one of our favorite days of the year and was well attended.

Patron Saint Day 2025

On November 9th, we celebrated our Patron Saint Day in honor of St. Michael. Following the Liturgy, we were delighted by an excellent turnout for the buffet dinner, where guests enjoyed Ukrainian music performed by the band, led by Dwayne from The Sparkling Tones. The proceedings were hosted by our current President, Dorothy. The St. Michael’s Ukrainian Women’s Association was acknowledged by Shirley, and current members were each presented with a rose in appreciation of their contributions.

Our Easter Brunch was served on St. Thomas Sunday, April 27th, treating our guests to traditional Ukrainian Food following the Liturgy. A delicious Birthday Cake was accompanied with Strawberries and Ice Cream to celebrate the birthday of a Church member !

Malanka 2025

On January 18th, 2025, St. Michael’s presented Malanka 2025, celebrating Ukrainian New Years, featuring Two Great Bands: The Sparkling Tones & The New Lumberjacks. This Sold Out Event featured our delicious Dinner Buffet ( with many in-house made Ukrainian foods), a special presentation from our Ukrainian Dancers ( who practice in our facility), an immensely popular late lunch ( everyone loves Studnetz !!) and the Grand Finale featured both Bands playing the same songs together for our guests. A Fantastic Start to the New Year. Thank You to Everyone !
