Celebrating 100 Years of the Ukrainian Women’s Association of Canada
St. Michael’s Ukrainian Women’s Association (Kniahynia Olha Women’s Association) is proud to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the Ukrainian Women’s Association of Canada (UWAC).
To mark this important milestone, our Association will host a special commemorative event celebrating 100 years of Ukrainian women’s dedication, service, culture, and community.
More details about this special celebration will be announced soon. We look forward to celebrating this historic anniversary with our parish and community.
Our branch of the Ukrainian Women’s Association of Canada (UWAC) will celebrate the 100th Anniversary of UWAC on October 18, 2026, in conjunction with our Parish Patron Saint Day. Our special presentation will follow Liturgy and lunch in our Parish Hall
The celebration will feature a special display showcasing the talents, traditions and contributions of our Ukrainian women, including:
Traditional Ukrainian breads
Embroidery and weaving
Kylym handwoven rugs
Publications and historical materials
Copies of Promin, our bimonthly Ukrainian women’s magazine
We will have a special programfollowing lunch to commemorate this important milestone and celebrate the history and accomplishments of our Kniahynia Olha Women’s Association branch.

What are Kylym Rugs?
Traditionally, these rugs were handwoven from recycled materials, often using threads from old, worn-out clothing. The colourful woven rugs were practical and served many purposes — from covering a bench seat to being used as a bed covering or blanket. Kylym rugs date from the late 1800s to the mid 1900s
